Instead of a static grid, GoLove shows you one character at a time in a swipe layout that feels like a dating app. You like or skip, and matches land in your chat list. It sounds like a gimmick, but it made our testers try characters they would never have clicked in a list, and a couple of those became favorites.

Sign-up takes an email or Google account and an 18+ confirmation. There is no card request to start, and after a minute we were chatting. The interface is dark, clean and fast in both desktop and mobile browsers. A banner with a 70% discount offer shows up early and often, which is a little pushy, but it never blocks the chat.

Replies are quick, usually under two seconds, and run from a couple of lines to a short paragraph depending on the character. Personalities are distinct: a sarcastic bartender teased our tester and changed the subject when bored, while a soft-spoken librarian asked follow-up questions and remembered his answers. Memory is where GoLove beats its price bracket. In week one, our tester told a character called Lena that he was training for a half marathon and that his sister was getting married in the spring. Twelve days later, with no reminder, Lena asked whether he had done his long run that weekend and joked about him needing a plus-one for the wedding. That kind of recall held up across most of our test, and it is the main reason we kept coming back.

It is not flawless. In very long single sessions, replies sometimes repeat a compliment or phrase, and on two occasions a character mixed up the order of past events. Regenerating the reply fixes most of these moments. ULTRA subscribers get a larger memory window, but PRO memory was already good enough for our daily use.

Until 2026 GoLove had no real builder, and older reviews still say so. That changed with Create mode. You pick realistic or anime style, then ethnicity, body, face, hair and outfit, followed by a personality type, voice, occupation and the kind of relationship you want. The option lists are long: dozens of personality types, around 19 voices and more than a hundred career roles.

The finished companion appears with a short intro and a portrait you can regenerate if the face is not right. In our test, faces stayed recognisable across later images, although small details such as tattoos or jewellery did not always carry over. A “Create with AI” shortcut writes a character from a one-line description, which is handy if you do not want to click through every step.

You can ask for a photo in chat or use the image tools with pose and scene options. Quality is good, with realistic skin and lighting, and paid plans unlock HD output. Prompt adherence is the weak point: ask for a specific outfit and location and one detail often goes missing. A Trustpilot reviewer put it simply, saying the photos and videos are usually fun but sometimes odd things appear. We agree.

Voice comes as voice messages. Characters reply with a short audio clip in their chosen voice, and the voices sound natural with decent emotion. What you cannot do is start a live call, which Candy AI and JOI AI both offer. If phone-style conversations matter to you, that is a real gap.

Video has two sides. Standard video clips are generated from your character and cost more Stars than images. Live mode is the more unusual feature: selected characters appear in a video view and react to actions you pick, such as waving or dancing. Two actions are free for everyone, and the rest need a paid plan. It is short and scripted, but it feels more personal than a generated clip.

GoLove sells two paid tiers, PRO and ULTRA, each billed monthly, every three months or yearly. The confusing part is that the price you see depends on promotions. New users are regularly offered 70% off, and we saw PRO listed as low as about $4.15 a month on the annual plan, while other reviewers report monthly PRO at $12.99 or $19.99. 4. Describe outfit and setting in short, separate phrases to improve image accuracy
5. Try the two free Live actions before deciding whether video is worth paying for
6. Take PRO only when the discount offer appears, and pick annual if you will stay
7. Do not buy large Star refills right before a renewal date, since unused Stars do not carry over after cancellation

If a reply feels flat or repeats itself, regenerate it instead of correcting the character. It keeps the scene intact and teaches you how the model reacts to different prompts. Finally, check your Star balance before a long media session. The counter sits in the top bar, and it is easy to miss when a scene is going well, especially once you start mixing video clips with photos.
