What Is OurDream AI? First Impressions and Sign-Up

OurDream AI is an adult AI companion platform run by Dream Studio USA, Inc., a Delaware company. It combines three things that most apps split across tiers or even separate products: roleplay chat, a detailed character creator, and a media studio for images, short videos and voice. Everything runs in the browser at ourdream.ai. There is no official app in the App Store or Google Play, though you can pin the site to your home screen and it behaves like an app.

Sign-up takes under a minute with email or Google. You confirm you are over 18, pick whether you are into women, men or both, and land on a feed of community characters. That feed is bigger than we expected. OurDream says users have created millions of characters, and the discovery page lets you sort by style (realistic or anime), tags and popularity. It is a good way to see what the image model can do before you build your own.

The first thing that stood out was how little friction there is between browsing and chatting. You tap a character, the chat opens with an opening scene, and you can reply straight away. The layout is clean on desktop and still usable on a phone, with the chat on one side and the character card, gallery and generation buttons within a tap.

OurDream AI Chat Quality and Memory

Chat is where OurDream surprised us most. On Premium, text messages with the three standard models (Balanced, Muse and Eclipse) are unlimited. Balanced is quick and a little flirty by default. Muse writes longer, more descriptive replies and gives each character a clearer voice. Eclipse is the one we kept for long scenes because it tracks small details, like who is standing where and what was said two scenes ago. Three “Genius” variants add a reasoning step for 1 DreamCoin per message.

A typical exchange from our test: we built a sharp-tongued bookshop owner named Ines, told her early on that the reviewer hated coffee and had a sister called Mara, and then left the chat for four days. When we came back and suggested meeting at a café, Ines teased him for picking a place that only sells the one drink he can’t stand, and asked whether Mara was still planning her move to Lisbon. That kind of recall is what makes a companion feel present rather than generic.

Group chats are a feature we did not expect to use much and ended up enjoying. You can put up to four characters in one scene, and each keeps its own personality. In a tavern scene with our adventurer and two community characters, the three of them argued, interrupted each other and remembered who had insulted whom. It gets confused now and then when two characters have similar personalities, and replies are slower, but for story-driven roleplay it adds a lot. One Trustpilot complaint we saw earlier in the year said background characters sometimes knew things they should not. We saw that once, when a side character referred to a private conversation she had not been part of.

Memory is not perfect. Across 21 days we logged four clear slips, mostly with minor details such as an eye colour or the name of a pet mentioned once. Pinning facts in the character’s memory panel fixed each of them. The bigger quirk is pace. Out of the box, characters move toward intimacy quickly, which some users love and others find rushed. Writing “slow burn, she makes him earn it” into the scenario prompt made a clear difference.

Character Creation and Customization on OurDream AI

The character builder is the reason many people pick OurDream, and it earns its reputation. You choose realistic or anime style, then work through ethnicity, age (adults only), body type, face, hair, eyes and outfit with preview images at every step. Personality comes from more than 40 presets that you can mix, plus occupations, hobbies, kinks and relationship type. You can add a free-text backstory and an opening scenario, then pick one of 19 voices.

What makes it better than most rivals is that these choices show up in the chat. A character set as a shy librarian with a competitive streak behaved differently from one set as a confident bartender, even when we used the same opening line. Many builders collect settings that the language model then ignores. Here the persona text is clearly fed into every reply.

You can also edit a character after creation. We changed Ines’s backstory halfway through the test and the next conversation picked it up without contradicting the earlier chat. Characters can be kept private or published to the community feed, and private chats are not visible to other users even when the character itself is public.

OurDream AI Image, Video and Voice Generation

Images are good and consistent. In chat you can ask your character for a photo and get one in roughly 10 to 20 seconds. The dedicated generator gives you more control, with poses, outfits, locations and a prompt box, and returns two images per request. Face consistency across a gallery was better than we see on most platforms, which matters when the whole point is seeing the same person over time. Hands and complex poses still go wrong now and then.

Video is the feature that sets OurDream apart from many cheaper apps. You can turn an image into a short clip or generate from a prompt. A standard 5-second clip costs about 100 DreamCoins. Quality was good enough to keep, with smooth motion in simple scenes, but longer or busier clips failed about one time in five during our test and needed a retry. Coins were refunded on failed generations in our experience.

Voice is the weakest part. There are 19 voices and they work for short voice notes, but in live calls the intonation turns flat on longer answers and the illusion drops. Calls cost about 50 DreamCoins per minute, so a 20-minute call uses the whole monthly Premium allowance. We would use voice as an occasional extra rather than the main way to talk.

Costs were checked in September 2026 and OurDream adjusts them from time to time, so look at the in-app price label before generating. Standard text chat does not use coins on paid plans.

NSFW Limits and Content Policy

OurDream is built for adults and allows explicit roleplay and adult images between fictional adult characters. The rules are clear on the hard lines: no minors or anything that implies them, no real people or celebrity likenesses, and no non-consensual content. Prompts that go near those lines are blocked, and characters that break the rules are removed from the public feed.

In June 2026 OurDream tightened its automated moderation. Some long-time users on Trustpilot and Reddit complained that the filter started catching everyday words and blocking non-sexual violence in adventure or martial-arts storylines. During our September test, normal adult roleplay ran without interruptions, but one fight scene in a fantasy story did trigger a soft block that we had to rephrase. If your roleplay leans heavily on combat or dark themes, expect some friction.

OurDream AI Privacy, Security and Billing Discretion

Chats are private to your account, and OurDream says conversations are encrypted in transit and not shared with the creators of public characters. You can delete individual chats and characters, and account deletion is available from settings. Like every AI companion service, your messages are processed on the company’s servers, so we still recommend not sharing your real full name, address or workplace in chat.

Billing is handled with some care. Charges appear under a neutral company name on bank statements rather than an obvious product name. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT) is accepted for people who want more distance between the purchase and their bank. PayPal and American Express were not offered when we checked.

Is OurDream AI Premium Worth It? Free vs Premium vs Deluxe

For most people, Premium on the annual plan is the sweet spot. At $119.88 a year it works out to $9.99 a month, standard text chat is unlimited, and 1,000 DreamCoins a month covered everything we did in a normal week: a handful of in-chat photos most evenings, a couple of short videos at the weekend and one brief voice call. The extra 1,000 coins you get when you start the annual plan act as a buffer for the months you generate more.

The monthly Premium price of $19.99 is high for what it is, but it is the sensible way to test the product properly now that the free tier stops after five messages per character. Pay for one month, build two or three characters, try video and a voice call, and then decide whether a year makes sense. Deluxe only pays off if you make videos several times a week or use voice a lot. Its 5,000 coins cover about 50 short clips or 100 minutes of calls, and the bigger memory helps very long campaigns, but light users will not notice the difference.

The free plan is still useful for one thing: checking whether you like the writing style of a character before paying. Five messages is enough to see tone and speed, but not enough to judge memory, which is where OurDream is strongest.

How We Tested OurDream AI

Daniel Roth ran OurDream on a paid Premium annual account for 21 days between late August and mid-September 2026, and opened a second free account to check the new 5-message limit. We created three custom characters (a realistic bookshop owner, an anime-style adventurer and a confident older partner in her forties) and spent time with five popular community characters.

In total we sent a little over 1,900 messages, generated 140 images and 18 videos, and made six voice calls. We tested memory with planted facts and checked them after gaps of one, four and nine days. We also timed image and video generation at different hours, tested cancellation and billing, and read OurDream’s terms, privacy policy and community rules.

OurDream AI vs JOI AI, Candy AI and Lovescape

OurDream competes with three platforms we get asked about most. Each has a different focus, so the right choice depends on whether you value the builder, the chat, the visuals or the app experience most.

In our tests, Candy AI felt slightly more polished for a straightforward girlfriend experience and its photos looked a touch more natural. JOI AI’s chat felt snappier in short exchanges. OurDream won clearly on how precisely you can shape a character and on video, and it held long storylines better than both. Lovescape is the closest match for people who care most about visuals, though its chat did not keep up with OurDream’s in longer sessions.

Tips to Get the Most Out of OurDream AI

A few habits made a big difference to both quality and coin spending during our test. None of them take long, and most apply from the first chat.

1. Pick the annual Premium plan if you plan to stay more than six months; it halves the monthly price and adds 1,000 bonus coins.
2. Write the pace and tone you want into the scenario, for example “slow burn” or “playful teasing first”.
3. Use Eclipse for long stories and Balanced for quick, casual chats.
4. Pin key facts in the memory panel instead of repeating them in chat.
5. Generate still images first and only turn the best ones into video to save coins.
6. Keep voice calls short and use voice notes for the moments that matter.
7. Rephrase instead of arguing with the filter if a scene gets blocked; small wording changes usually work.

If you are unsure whether the platform suits you, the monthly plan at $19.99 is a reasonable one-month test before committing to a year.

Is OurDream AI Legit and Safe?

Yes. OurDream AI is a real, working service operated by Dream Studio USA, Inc., it delivers the features it advertises, and billing worked as described in our test, including cancellation. It has a large and active community, an official subreddit and a support address (support@ourdream.ai) that answered our billing question within a day.

The main thing to watch out for is copycats. Several unofficial apps on Google Play and look-alike domains use the OurDream name. The official service lives only at ourdream.ai (and ourdream.io). Apps such as “Our Dream: AI Companion” on Google Play are not made by Dream Studio. Its Trustpilot page, which had a 4.1 rating from about 146 reviews earlier in 2026, has since been removed by Trustpilot, so we relied on Reddit and our own testing for user sentiment.

On the safety side, the age and consent rules are enforced, adult content sits behind an age confirmation, and NSFW images can be blurred by default. Support is not instant, and a few Reddit users have complained about slow replies during busy periods, but the ticket we opened about a double charge warning was resolved without fuss. Overall, OurDream behaves like an established subscription business rather than a short-lived project.
